Code Enforcement

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of Code Enforcement are to:

  • Educate the public on code issues
  • Enforce the code of ordinances
  • Work with the citizens of Brookings in achieving compliance

We are committed to preserving and enhancing our neighborhoods through proactive enforcement of municipal codes. These proactive measures help prevent properties and neighborhoods from becoming areas of blight. More information on the types of violations can be found by referring to the Brookings Code of Ordinances.

Complaints

Code Enforcement receives a number of complaints each year concerning alleged violations of the Municipal Code of Ordinances. Complaints are investigated on an individual basis.

If you have observed a violation, please visit the Engage Brookings webpage or download the Engage Brookings app to make a report and file it with Code Enforcement or call (605) 692-6629.
