JackrabbitsWith 12,816 students as of fall 2010, SDSU is the largest higher education institution in the state, which includes five other state-supported universities and several private colleges.

A breakdown of that fall 2010 headcount shows 53 percent female, 67 percent South Dakotans, and 86 percent undergraduate students. There are 12 percent in graduate school and 2 percent in professional doctoral programs.

Other states contribute 30 percent of the enrollment with 3 percent (455) being international students.

The largest colleges are Arts and Sciences (17.3 percent), Agriculture and Biological Sciences (16.5 percent), and General Studies (15.2 percent).
