The Mayor's Generational Leadership Award is given to a community member who has impacted the community in the following ways:
- Positively changes how we think about our community and city
- Helps Brookings attract and retain young professionals and families
- Motivates new generations to be active in their communities
- Contributes to the advancement and well-being of the community through service in areas such as: education, sports, fundraising, charitable and voluntary service, economic development, arts, and the environment.
The award is given to a community member age 35 or younger. Individuals must be nominated before their 36th birthday and all nominations will be kept on file and active for the award for two years.
NOMINATIONS
- Nominations for the 2023 Mayor's Generational Leadership Award are due by 5 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023.
- Please submit completed nomination forms via email to Bonnie Foster. Nomination forms also can be mailed to or dropped off at the City Clerk's Office, City and County Government Center, 520 Third Street, Suite 230, Brookings, SD 57006.
- All nominations will be considered and reviewed by the Mayor.

The award recipient will be recognized at a combined awards event in early December.
