3rd Street Sidewalk Ramp Upgrades and Mill & Overlay

Project Update

Bowes Construction plans to start on this project around the middle of August.

Route/Detour Information

During the duration of the project, 3rd Street from 17th Avenue to 22nd Avenue will be closed to all through traffic and open to local traffic only. There will be full closures of intersections intermittently during the project.

Project Milestones


Phase 1: Sidewalk Ramp Replacements and Curb Patches

Remove and replace ramps, fillets, and curb at the intersections of State Avenue and 21st Avenue.  These intersections will be completely closed during the work. 


Patch the asphalt around the new concrete and reopen the intersections at State Avenue and at 21st Avenue to local traffic only.

Phase 2: Mill and Overlay

Mill the top 2 inches of asphalt off the road section.  Local traffic will be intermittently disrupted throughout this day.


Adjust manholes and water valves as needed and prep the road surface. 


Repave the top 2 inches of asphalt that was removed in the milling process. During the paving operations, traffic will be disrupted and homeowners may not be able to access their driveway for a couple of days. 


Paint new street striping including center lanes, stop bars, and pedestrian crossings

Project Overview:

Replacement of the sidewalk ramps, fillets, and valley gutters. Milling the street surface and repaving the top lift of asphalt. 

Completion Date:

Anticipated by the first week of October.
