The Camelot Square Drainage Improvement Project began on Monday, July 30th, 2012. This project includes the improvement of the City of Brookings Storm Sewer System, sanitary sewer main extension, water main adjustments, sanitary and water service adjustments, unclassified excavation, removal of asphalt, curb and gutter, driveway approaches, sidewalk, installation of storm sewer, base course, curb and gutter, concrete driveway approaches, and asphalt surfacing. Bowes Construction, Inc. is the General Contractor.
Construction is continuing along Christine Avenue, north of 15th Street South. The intersection of 15th Street South and Christine Avenue is patched with gravel, and it is open to east/west traffic. The contractors will continue to install box culvert along Christine Avenue between 15th Street South and Yorktown Drive during the week of August 20th. Portions of Christine Avenue will be closed as the box culvert is installed. Drivers are urged to drive carefully through the area and to follow the road closure signage. The City will provide an update prior to the school opening date, so the public will be aware of the road closure locations.
We encourage people to check the City of Brookings website for updates on this project and other city projects.
We appreciate the public’s patience during construction of this important project. Please call City Engineer Jackie Lanning or Assistant City Engineer Thad Drietz at (605) 692-6629 for more information.
