[ARCHIVED] Asphalt paving on Medary Avenue

Work on Medary Avenue has been progressing. The contractor, Bowes Construction, Inc., is performing the milling operation during the week of September 4th. The contractor anticipates they will start the asphalt overlay on Friday, September 7th, 2012, between 6th Street and the railroad tracks north of Orchard Drive. The asphalt paving operation will likely cause congestion. Drivers are encouraged to drive slowly through the area and to follow the traffic control signs and flaggers. Drivers may also want to use alternate routes during the project.

The crews will also be completing the intersection curb ramps along Medary Avenue. Other work will include digout repair on Medary Avenue at various locations between 8th Street South and 15th Street South. The asphalt paving will continue south of the railroad tracks after the curb & gutter work and digouts are complete in this section.

We encourage people to check the City of Brookings website for updates on this project and other city projects. Please call City Engineer Jackie Lanning or Assistant City Engineer Thad Drietz at (605) 692-6629 for more information.
