[ARCHIVED] Sustainability Council Increasing Membership - Volunteers Needed

Established in 2011 the Brookings Sustainability Council is now expanding its membership from 9 members to 11 members. Citizens are encouraged to apply and exercise their ‘sustainable’ minds. Mayor Tim Reed recognized a need in the Brookings community and established a city initiative to create a volunteer based committee to help educate and communicate the importance of living sustainably to make a difference in all of our futures.

The purpose of the Sustainability Council is to investigate, propose, educate, communicate, and advocate investment strategies and policies that will improve our future quality of life while still meeting the needs of the present. The Council, totaling 11 members, meets monthly on a day determined by the Council. Members serve three year terms, and residency is required for the majority.

Applications for Appointment are available at the link below or at City Hall, 520 3rd Street, Suite 230, or by calling (605) 692-6281. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk not later than February 22, 2013.
