A friendly reminder shared on behalf of Brookings Municipal Utilities.

Residents are asked to route sump pumps outside as soon as possible.

• Heavy flows from sump pumps could ll the sanitary sewer system and cause the sewer to back up in your or your neighbors’ basements.
• Heavy flows could also compromise the Wastewater Plant treatment operations.
• Removing sewer inow controls costs.

Don't Flush Trouble:

Please remember that paper towels, facial tissues, baby wipes, “flushable” wipes, and other similar items do not break down like toilet paper and can cause sanitary sewer backups, which in turn can cause additional public health hazards.

Questions should be directed to Brookings Municipal Utilities
