Would you like to learn how to download e-books from the Brookings Public Library digital collection called South Dakota Titles to Go? Whether you have a Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader, iPad, or other reading device, we will show you how to download free e-books from our collection. The classes are offered according to the type of reader you have, whether it’s an e-ink reader or a tablet.
E-ink e-readers are devices that usually function just as readers. The screens are generally in black and white or gray. Examples of e-ink e-readers are the Kindle Paperwhite and the Nook Simple Touch.
A tablet is a device with downloadable apps that lets you do a multiple of functions, like check your email or play mahjong. To read an e-book on a tablet, you would first have to download an e-reader app. For example, to check out and read books from our digital collection, South Dakota Titles to Go, on a tablet you need to download the Overdrive Media Console app. Examples of tablets are the Kindle Fire, the Nook Tablet, and the iPad.
If you’re not sure which class you should come to, call the Library at (605) 692-9407 and we can let you know which class fits best with your reader.
