On October 13th from 6:30 to 8 p.m., the Brookings Human Rights Commission, in partnership with the Brookings Sustainability Council and the Brookings Public Library, will host a virtual panel discussion entitled “Everything Including the Kitchen Sink: The Science and Governance of Your Drinking Water” in conjunction with South Dakota State University’s Common Read program.
This panel discussion is one in a series of events in the Campus/Community Common Read program, designed to enhance engagement with the book “What the Eyes Don’t See” by Mona Hanna-Attisha. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to unite with the Brookings and SDSU communities to learn more about the management and distribution of safe drinking water. Panelists will include city officials, civil engineers, water workers, and representatives of the Indigenous and environmental communities.
A Zoom link to the event can be found on the Human Rights Commission Facebook Page (@brookingshrc) or on the Brookings Public Library website calendar by visiting http://www.brookingslibrary.org
