The Department of Public Works will begin reconstruction of the 8th Street South and Main Avenue Intersection starting the week of June 6, 2022. This work will include removal of the existing asphalt surface in the intersection and replacing it with concrete; and water main work. The project will continue until the week of August 15, 2022, weather permitting. During this time through traffic will be detoured around the construction area. Detour signs will be placed to direct vehicles appropriately.
Businesses within the detoured area on Main Avenue (from 5th Street South to 12th Street South) and 8th Street South (Crystal Ridge Road to 7th Avenue) will remain open during this time. City garbage, yard waste and recycling will be collected at the curb from residences per the usual schedule.
The City of Brookings would like to remind the public to be cautious when driving or walking near the project area, especially around work areas under construction. We understand there will be short-term inconveniences throughout the project and we appreciate working together with you on any issues.
