[ARCHIVED] 12TH STREET SOUTH PAVING PROJECT

Construction will begin soon on a project to overlay 12th Street South between Main Avenue South and Medary Avenue South. This project will be administered and inspected by the local staff of the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) office. The contractor for the project will be Bowes Construction, Inc. The project will include a milling and asphalt overlay of the street surface, new pavement markings, replacement of small sections of curb & gutter, installation of new accessible curb ramps at each intersection along the project route and upgraded pedestrian push buttons for the traffic signal at Main Avenue South and 12th Street South.

Bowes Construction will begin the project soon, starting with curb ramp installation. The contractor estimates they will perform the concrete work, milling and overlay portion of the project in July and August and will complete the project in September. The City would like to remind the public to be cautious when driving or walking through the project area, especially around work areas under construction. We appreciate everyone’s patience during the project.

Questions may be directed to the SDDOT office at (605) 688-5001 or the City Engineering Office at (605) 692-6629.
