The Brookings Regional Airport has scheduled the shutdown of the Airport Weather Observation System (AWOS) and other FAA Navigational Aids (NAVAIDs) that will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 starting at 7:00 AM. The AWOS and NAVAIDS will be shut down until further notice. The airport will remain open, but the shutdown of the AWOS and NAVAIDS will reduce and/or limit the instrument approaches for the airport until the construction project is completed, which may take 12 to 18 months. This shutdown will allow the Airfield Realignment Project to continue as anticipated. Pilots should check all Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) before each flight and forward this notice to anyone that may be interested.
