As part of the Campus Community Common Read, the Brookings Human Rights Committee invites all to a panel discussion with area veterans of many generations. Many serve in many ways and our panelists will discuss how military service (and sacrifice) has changed over the years.
The Campus Community Common Read is a yearly event that engages the entire Brookings community in reading, discussing, and sharing their thoughts on a selected book. This year’s selection is The Heart and the Fist: The Education of a Humanitarian, the Making of a Navy SEAL by Eric Greitens. As said by Mayor Reed, “I am excited that this year's common read explores a subject important to everyone in Brookings - Our Veterans.”
The panel will consist of current and former service men and women. Their service spans from World War II to current day conflicts. Keith Corbett will serve as panel moderator.
The event will be held on October 24, 2013 at 7:00 pm (Reception begins at 6:30 pm) at the Brookings City & County Government Center, Room 310. The event is open to the general public.
