[ARCHIVED] BOB YAPP HISTORIC PRESERVATION WORKSHOPS - May 1-3, 2014

Bob Yapp is the president of Preservation Resources, Inc. and travels America as a historic preservation and planning consultant. He provides keynote speeches, conducts seminars and instructs hands-on workshops on just about any subject having to do with preservation, housing and community.

Registration is now open for the workshops May 1-3, 2014. Please register by April 17, 2014. The workshops will be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or later each day. The workshop fee (includes lunch & materials) is $50 per participant or $25 for a student or observer. All checks should be payable to the Historic Preservation Commission and mailed to the address below.

Thursday, May 1, 2014 - Exterior Wood Repair - Learn best practices in the repair of original, exterior wood elements using architectural epoxies on a local historic property. * Space limited to 12 participants and 12 observers.

Friday, May 2, 2014 - "Paint It Right!" - Learn how to safely and affordably achieve a paint job on a local historic property that can last for 15- 20 years. * Space limited to 12 participants and 12 observers.

Saturday, May 3, 2014 - Window Restoration & Weatherization - Learn cost-effective and energy efficient weatherization of original, double-hung, wood windows on a local historic property. * Space limited to 12 participants.

Sunday, May 4, 2014 GreenFest at McCrory Gardens Education & Visitor Center
Registration not required. Free and open to the public.
12:00 pm - Paint It Right!
2:00 pm - Getting Shellacked or Innovative Woodworking Finishing & Refinishing
4:00 pm - Energy Efficient for Old Houses & Buildings
