Do I need additional permits if I live in a historic district?: Any exterior project located in a historic district that requires a building permit may be subject to a process called “11.1 Review” by the Brookings Historic Preservation Commission, pursuant to SDCL 1-19A-11.1. For more information, please refer to Historic Preservation Commission's 11.1 Review Process

2. Do I need a permit to put a fence in my yard?: You do not need a permit, but there are regulations you must follow. Call the City engineer's office at (605) 692-6629.
